- Description
What do Messi, Ronaldo, Giggs, Beckham and Bale all have in common, besides being top international football players?
They all accredit yoga to improving their game and lengthening their careers. Ryan Giggs believes yoga helped him play at the top of his profession for as long as he did.
(Sorry I can’t find any female footballers…although I am sure there will be!)
Yoga is an amazing tool to help improve your game as it targets not only your body but your mind also. A strong mind can be the vital ingredient to give you the edge, especially if you are prone to angry outbursts, anxiety or lack of concentration.
Football is a demanding sport which can put a huge amount of strain on the body.
Due to the nature of the game, it can leave the body lopsided and prone to injury on the weaker side.
With one leg predominantly kicking, the other leg becomes planted meaning the hip flexor and quads on the standing leg are not as strong, which can cause imbalance in the hips and spine leading to injury.
In this workshop we will incorporate pranayama (breathing) techniques which will help still the mind, ease anxiety and help you concentrate on those all-important moments.
If you can’t stay calm how you will manage the stress of taking that crucial penalty? Or being the one to save it.
There are so many benefits to yoga which can help improve your game
· Improved flexibility
· Increased range of motion
· Increase strength and stability
· Enhanced body awareness and proprioception
